What Is Clinical Governance?
Clinical governance is the framework through which healthcare organisations maintain and improve the quality and safety of patient care. It provides the structures, processes, and accountability needed to ensure that patients consistently receive safe, appropriate, and high-quality treatment.
It ensures that:
-
Patients receive safe and appropriate treatment
-
Clinicians work within clear professional and ethical standards
-
Services are regularly reviewed and improved
-
Feedback, incidents, and complaints are used to strengthen patient care
-
Risks are identified and managed appropriately
Our Clinical Governance Approach
Naturecan Clinic (operated by Ropana Clinics Ltd) maintains a governance framework designed to support high standards of care across all areas of the clinic. Our approach covers:
Clinical assessment and prescribing
Medicines management
Controlled drug governance
Patient safeguarding
Information governance and confidentiality
Adverse event monitoring and reporting
Staff training and professional development
Audit, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance
Some treatment recommendations may undergo multidisciplinary review processes to support safe and appropriate prescribing.
Patient Safety & Monitoring
Patient safety is central to everything we do. We maintain ongoing monitoring across all aspects of our clinical service to identify issues early and drive continuous improvement.
We actively monitor:
-
Clinical outcomes
-
Patient feedback
-
Side effects and adverse events
-
Treatment effectiveness
-
Service quality indicators
-
Clinical incidents and complaints
Continuous Improvement
Where appropriate, lessons learned from incidents, audits, and patient feedback are incorporated into service improvements and staff training. We maintain a culture of openness and learning to ensure our patients receive the highest standard of care.
Adverse Events & MHRA Yellow Card Reporting
As with all medicines, cannabis-based medicines may cause side effects or adverse reactions. Patients are encouraged to report any unexpected symptoms or concerns to the clinic promptly.
We also support the UK MHRA Yellow Card Scheme, which allows patients and healthcare professionals to report suspected side effects relating to medicines directly to the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.

Independence of Clinical Decision-Making
All prescribing decisions at Naturecan Clinic are made independently by appropriately qualified clinicians, based on clinical judgement, patient safety, and individual patient need.
-
Prescribing decisions may be subject to additional clinical review processes where appropriate
-
No prescription is self-approved — all prescriptions are reviewed by a second qualified clinician before issue
-
Dispensing and medication supply are managed separately through our regulated pharmacy partner
